Hootnannies detail photo.

I thought I would show you some detail. The stamp has bare bones outlines. All the fine detail you have to add yourself. The branch he is standing on was drawn by me also. Gotta love those eyes!

Hootnannies

I discovered a great set of owl stamps from Loraliie Art Stamps called Hootnannies. They are great fun, especially if you are a Zentangler. It's amazing how you can  dress these little guys up with a good Micron or Copic fine point pen.  This one was colored with Copic markers.

This is a sample A2 card I made for the store. The Essex label die from from Memory Box was not selling, so I used it here to  pop up the Fabulous Friends saying. I found an old piece of Bo Bunny's Persuasion to use as a background paper on a mauvy pink Bazzil cardstock. I stippled it all with the Tim Holtz stippler applicator. The butterfly was a total mistake. I used one from the My Favorite Things Butterfly set and  stamped it with a pink pigment ink on vellum. I had intended to heat emboss the butterfly with clear embossing powder, but accidently poured on Heat & Stick powder. When I applied heat, it started to bubble and I realized my mistake, so I grabbed a jar of Crystal Art Glitter and sprinkled it on the butterfly. So, everywhere there is pink ink, there is now pink colored glitter. It turned out great. I love happy mistakes. I used the scalloped corner punch for all the corners and placed some clear bling in each coener, then colored them with R85 Copic marker.

Customer Service

I recently had a customer approach the counter and inquire about one of our classes. I left this conversation a little rattled.. but this has happened before, and seems to becoming more common.

Customer: "When is your Copics class?"

Me: "It is Sunday the 19th"

Customer: "Oh, I have company that day."

Me: "Ok"

Customer: "That is football day."

Me: "Umm, actually, I believe Feb 5th is Superbowl Sunday."

Customer: "Yes, that's when I am having company."

Me: "Ok, but the Copics class is on Feb. 19th."

Customer: "Oh, ok." *wanders away*

Northwood Cards

I recently taught a class doing all of these Northwoods cards at Priceless Scrapbooks.. It took all day but they all turned out lovely.

No time to play

I have been slacking on my blog. So much going on, it will only get worse as we close in on the Holidays. I spent the last two weeks getting things ready for the sidewalk sale, snowman soups, snowman poops, reindeer poops and reindeer food, even turkey poops.. We have a few left over if anyone needs some as gifts for secret sisters or secret pals.
Now I am prepping for my class on Saturday. Ten people making ten cards each, plus two kits to take home. That's a lot of cards. The glitter paper from American Crafts is so thick, I almost broke my cutter on it. I had to take it apart and re-align the blade as it was off track. I am now using the old Fiskars chipboard cutter to do the glitter paper. It seems to do a good job. I will have it all done by Friday evening, or I will stay here until I do.
 Next, I have a class Tuesday evening that I need to prep for. It is only 3 cards, but it will involve a lot of heat embossing. To keep the class moving, I have to do that a head of time or we will be here all night. Can't have that.
On top of that, Carl is preparing to go visit his son for two weeks. :)
That means I have to shop and pick up a few things he will need, plus make sure he gets his laundry done. I thought Brian was driving down Sunday to pick him up, but now Carl tells me he and his family are driving down Friday and leaving Sunday. Good grief, are they planning to come by my house? it will take 3 months for me to get it ready for company.. O_o
Ok, enough whining. I can do that in my sleep.. literally. I will have to. Small price to pay for two weeks peace and quiet.
 Enough whining, back to work.

 This is a 12 x 12 scrapbook page I made for a sample for the store. For inspiration, I used an old Christmas 5 x 7 photo of me and 2 of my sisters with my Dad in the 1950's. This is one of my favorite Christmas photos of us.
