Well, I have tried 6 times to get this photo to stand up, and it reverts back to the sideways one each time, so I guess I will post it lying down. This is the first attempt I have made to post a picture I took with my phone. I guess it will be my last, as it will not obey simple commands.
Anyway, this is a card I made to demo the flourish die I used down each side. It is a Memory Box die, so I used the Memory box Butterfly also. The oval was cut using the long ovals die from Spellbinders.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-11770106158094108682012-06-14T13:07:00.004-07:002012-06-14T13:07:48.986-07:00

My friend Margi also attended the retreat. This was her Shoebox Swap card. The background was a folder/die hybrid that she has that came from Marianne Designs, I think. The flourish is a CheeryLynn die and the center flower looks like the Tilth flower die from Memory Box. The butterflies may be a die, or maybe the Martha Stewart punches. I love her color choices, and the over all affect is soft but eye catching.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-72699054546416485682012-06-14T13:00:00.003-07:002012-06-14T13:00:54.298-07:00

This cute baby card was my friend Lynnor's Shoebox swap kit that we put together at the retreat. I discovered a great set of owl stamps from Loraliie Art Stamps called Hootnannies. They are great fun, especially if you are a Zentangler. It's amazing how you can dress these little guys up with a good Micron or Copic fine point pen. The Essex label die from from Memory Box was not selling, so I used it here to pop up the Fabulous Friends saying. I found an old piece of Bo Bunny's Persuasion to use as a background paper on a mauvy pink Bazzil cardstock. I stippled it all with the Tim Holtz stippler applicator. The butterfly was a total mistake. I used one from the My Favorite Things Butterfly set and stamped it with a pink pigment ink on vellum. I had intended to heat emboss the butterfly with clear embossing powder, but accidently poured on Heat & Stick powder. When I applied heat, it started to bubble and I realized my mistake, so I grabbed a jar of Crystal Art Glitter and sprinkled it on the butterfly. So, everywhere there is pink ink, there is now pink colored glitter. It turned out great. I love happy mistakes. I used the scalloped corner punch for all the corners and placed some clear bling in each coener, then colored them with R85 Copic marker.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-55083946232947402142012-01-31T11:56:00.000-08:002012-01-31T11:56:03.525-08:00Customer ServiceI recently had a customer approach the counter and inquire about one of our classes. I left this conversation a little rattled.. but this has happened before, and seems to becoming more common.

Customer: "When is your Copics class?"

Me: "It is Sunday the 19th"

Customer: "Oh, I have company that day."

Me: "Ok"

Customer: "That is football day."

Me: "Umm, actually, I believe Feb 5th is Superbowl Sunday."

Customer: "Yes, that's when I am having company."

Me: "Ok, but the Copics class is on Feb. 19th."
Customer: "Oh, ok." *wanders away*
So much going on, it will only get worse as we close in on the Holidays. I spent the last two weeks getting things ready for the sidewalk sale, snowman soups, snowman poops, reindeer poops and reindeer food, even turkey poops.. We have a few left over if anyone needs some as gifts for secret sisters or secret pals.
Now I am prepping for my class on Saturday. Ten people making ten cards each, plus two kits to take home. That's a lot of cards. The glitter paper from American Crafts is so thick, I almost broke my cutter on it. I had to take it apart and re-align the blade as it was off track. I am now using the old Fiskars chipboard cutter to do the glitter paper. It seems to do a good job. I will have it all done by Friday evening, or I will stay here until I do.
Next, I have a class Tuesday evening that I need to prep for. It is only 3 cards, but it will involve a lot of heat embossing. To keep the class moving, I have to do that a head of time or we will be here all night. Can't have that.
On top of that, Carl is preparing to go visit his son for two weeks. :)
That means I have to shop and pick up a few things he will need, plus make sure he gets his laundry done. I thought Brian was driving down Sunday to pick him up, but now Carl tells me he and his family are driving down Friday and leaving Sunday. Good grief, are they planning to come by my house? it will take 3 months for me to get it ready for company.. O_o
Ok, enough whining. I can do that in my sleep.. literally. I will have to. Small price to pay for two weeks peace and quiet.
Enough whining, back to work.
I used a red cardstock for the base of the card. I cut a white cardstock to 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 size, and punched the corners using a Martha Stewart Punch. I cut the Black cardstock to 5 1/8 x 5 1/8 and punched the corners with the same punch as the white cardstock.
For the card front, I used a plain white cardstock, cut 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 and run through a xyron. I had pre-stamped white cardstock, using black versafine ink, using various background stamps so I would have different patterns. I cut these stamped pieces into strips, varying from 1/4 to 5/8 inches in width. I also cut a few pieces of the black cardstock so I could add them into the mix. I then placed the different pattern strips side by side, all the way across until completely covered. I die cut the assembly using a Spellbinder label die. I used a small long oval die to cut out the center aperture. I stamped a small vase of flowers on white cardstock and colored it with Copics. I cut it out slightly bigger than my oval cut out and used pop dots to pop it up. I mounted the quilted piece to the black background. I tied a black satin ribbon, about 1/2", vertically around my black background assembly. I added a black satin bow to the tied on piece of ribbon. I added three white mini roses from Magnolia to the center of the bow. I colored them red using a red copic..Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-23013333208921476792011-10-13T09:12:00.000-07:002011-10-13T09:12:29.721-07:00Another Iron Works Card

This one is an A2 card, on a white base. The background papers are from a Bo-Bunny line, Jovial. The stamp set is an acrylic set from Stampendous (SSC1009). I bought it in 2008, and never done a whole lot with it until now. I cut him out on Bazzill white smooth, using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the snowman with Copic markers. I stamped the hat and scarf on more Jovial scraps and cut them out. The green band separating the papers is a scrap of green Bazzill cut 4" x 3/4". I assembled the snowman, placed his hat on him, added a whilte fuzzy ball to the end, and placed his scarf around his neck, To finish off the card, I used Stampin'Up's Word Window punch with their long label punch and popped it up over the Let it snow greeting from an older Hero Arts acrylic set.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-7607888841569682132011-10-07T11:52:00.000-07:002011-10-07T11:52:47.118-07:00Fall Scarecrow Card

This is a JustRite Fall set I found. Here is one inspired by a card I saw on the Impression Obsession blog a few days ago. They used different backgrounds, a different stamp and different ribbon, but otherwise mines just like theirs.

I started with Bazzill's kraft paper for the card base, A2 size. I cut a dark brown Bazzill for the mat, then another piece of kraft for the background. I used the Impression Obsession Background stamp - Distressed Corduroy (cco47) with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. I then stamped over the corduroy with the Impression Obsession background stamp - Spatter (cco59) with the Ranger Distress ink Peeled Paint.
The main image is a stamp by Penny Black called Queen Anne's Lace (3939k). used the brown Versafine again stamped on the flip side of a pattern paper called Pink Grapefruit by Kaiser Craft. It was from a line called Pink Gelato. I used one of the circle dies from the Classic circle Nestibilities, and cut a brown circular mat I made using the Lacy Circles Nestibilities. I made some small glue placements on the image and sprinkled on some Sweet Pea Flower Soft. The ribbon was from May Arts, a 3/8" satin with pink on one side and brown on the reverse.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-62505872947375086362011-09-26T04:21:00.000-07:002011-09-26T04:21:37.353-07:00Gift Bag Class by Tange

These are two gift bags done in a class given by my friend Tange. She used standard white gift bags, about 12 inches high, maybe 8 inches wide. The Loralie's were stamped and enlarged 200%. I colored them with Copic markers. I used a Copic Multiliner to add a few details to both images. The hamburger turner was made using a slender rectangle of brown textured cardstock for the handle, and a square of silver mirrored cardstock, punched 3 times with Stampin'Up's Word Window punch.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-89255546024853183382011-09-23T12:06:00.000-07:002011-09-23T12:08:44.771-07:00This is a site where you can find many pattern to practice with.
I borrowed the small square face stamp from a friend and stamped it on a piece of water color paper. The design was actually on the cover of the Zentangle 3 book, and I did mine pretty close to theirs except I put a flower on the hat where they have a pinwheel. I just have a hard time drawing pinwheels. I guess I need to practice. I then matted the image on the red cardstock and mounted it to an A2 black card. I used a red copic, R29 I think to color her lips. Added a red sheer bow made with my Bow Easy, and a clear bling on the flower. I colored the bling with a red copic also, R59. I added an edge of cream cardstock along the bottom of the image, using a Martha Stewart border punch.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-23760009413286746782011-09-22T10:42:00.000-07:002011-09-22T10:42:35.870-07:00Charlie's Arc Card

I love the Charlie's Arc card toppers made by Flower Soft. They are a great way to make a card without the muss and fuss of stamping and coloring, if your in a hurry. This particular set was designed to be used in the snow globe cards. I thought I would try something different with them, so I made them into easel cards using my Spellbinders Nestabilities. A little bling, a bit of ribbon and you have a nice card. Charlie's Arc is a series of childrens books. I used a damask style Cuttlebug folder for background, then used the Heartfelt Creations swirling leaf die to do the diecut in white. The greeting is from heartfelt Creations, punched with a Marvy circle die, and mounted on a purple die cut. I used a Nellie's Multi Frame die. The roses were white, and i painted them with the lavendar Inspirations. The ribbon is just a one inch purple sheer, tied in a knot. This is done in the A2 card size on a standard white card.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-1407839376117667652011-09-21T11:09:00.000-07:002011-09-21T11:09:22.320-07:00

This is a card I did using some pre-made flowers. They were white, so I glimmer misted them with Marmalade Glimmer mist. I used plain cream Bazzill cardstock for the card base. The pattern paper is Gabrielle by Bo Bunny. The stamp is from Heartfelt Creations, and the buttlerflys are punched out with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. The image was colored with Copics. This is an A2 card size.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666605597546329601.post-74575599089670968572011-09-20T14:19:00.000-07:002011-09-20T14:19:41.638-07:00Zentangle Scrap Card - Daiseys

This is a card made from my scrap box. The die cut is a Spellbinders and i couldn't get it out of the die without tearing it. I discarded it into my scrap box, and later took it out to do some practice on my Zentangles. I liked it so much, I found the pale green scrap and made a card. I took a matching scrap and used a Sizzix Cuttlebug folder to emboss it, then used a white gel pin to add the white dots. The corners of the card front are punched with the scalloped corner punch by McGill. The "thank you" is by StampinUp'. I added a bit of color with my Copic Markers. This is an A2 card.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10087663270593984392noreply@blogger.com4
